2008 Popular Christmas Songs Lyrics

I was really in Christmas mood this year. Well, not only this year. But anyway, I post some of the popular and my favourite Christmas songs that I played over and over to mark the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ - although most songs are only related to the commercialized Christmas.

My Only Wish This Year

(Britney Spears)

Last night I took a walk in the snow.
Couples holding hands, places to go
Seems like everyone but me is in love.

Santa can you hear me
I signed my letter that I sealed with a kiss
I sent it off
It just said this
I know exactly what I want this year.
Santa can you hear me.
I want my baby (baby, yeah)
I want someone to love me someone to hold me.
Maybe (maybe, maybe maybe.) he'll be all my own in a big red bow

Santa can you hear me?
I have been so good this year and all I want is one thing
Tell me my true love is near
He's all I want, just for me underneath my christmas tree
I'll be waiting here.
Santa thats my only wish this year.
oohhh ohh yeah
Christmas Eve I just can't sleep
Would I be wrong for taking a peek?
Cause I heard that your coming to town

Santa can you hear me? (yea yeah)
Really hope that your on your way
With something special for me in your sleigh
Ohh please make my wish come true
Santa can you hear me
I want my baby (baby)
I want someone to love me someone to hold me
Maybe (maybe maybe) we'll be all the love under the mistletoe

Santa can you hear me
I have been so good this year
And all I want is one thing
Tell me my true love is near
He's all I want just for me
Underneath my christmas tree
I'll be waiting here santa thats my only wish this year
I hope my letter reaches you in time
Bring me love can call all mine
(yeah yeah) cause I have been so good this year.

Can't be alone under the mistletoe
He's all want and a big red bow
Santa can you hear me (hear me?)
I have been so good this year
And all i want is one thing
Tell me my true love is near
He's all I want. just for me
Underneath my christmas tree
I'll be waiting here (ohh yeah) santa thats my only wish this year
Oh santa can u hear me? oh santa
Well hes all I want just for me underneath my Christmas tree
Oh I'll be waiting here
Santa thats my only wish this year.

Joyful Kings
(Jonas Brothers)

Joy to the world! The Lord is come!
Let earth receive her King!
Let every heart prepare him room!
Let heaven and nature sing.
Let heaven and nature sing.
Let heaven and nature sing.

We three kings of Orient are
Bearing gifts we travel so far.
Field and fountain, moor and mountain,
Following yonder star.

Joy to the world! The Lord is come!

Let earth receive her King! (Yeah!)
Let every heart prepare him room!
Let heaven and nature sing.
Let heaven and nature sing.
Let heaven and nature sing.

Born a king on Bethlehem's plain,
Gold I bring to crown Him again,
King forever, ceasing never (Whoa!)

Joy to the world! The Lord is come!
Let earth receive her King!
Let every heart prepare him room!
And heaven and nature sing.
And heaven and nature sing.
Let heaven, heaven and nature
heaven and nature sing.
(Oh! Oh Oh!)

Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town
(Miley Cyrus)

You better watch out
You better not cry
Better not pout
I'm telling you why
Santa Claus is coming to town

He's making a list,
And checking it twice;
Gonna find out Who's naughty and nice.
Santa Claus is coming to town

He sees you when you're sleeping
He knows when you're awake
He knows if you've been bad or good
So be good for goodness sake!

O! You better watch out!
You better not cry.
Better not pout, I'm telling you why.
Santa Claus is coming to town.
Santa Claus is coming to town.

Greatest Time Of Year
(Aly and AJ)

There's a special kind of feeling in the air
It only happens at this time of year
When everyone is filled with love and cheer
'Cause that's what matters

Pretty paper boxes tied with bows
Walking in the sun or in the snow
We can feel the excitement growing, knowing

[Chorus:]
It's the greatest time of year, and it's here
Help me celebrate it
With everybody here, friends so dear
Let me simply state it
Joy to the world and everyone
Lift up your hearts and feel the love
It's our favourite way, to spend the holiday
Yeah

We can get all cozy by the fire
Turn the music up a little higher
I don't think that I could ever tire
Of being together

Decorate the tree, hang mistletoe
And stand by me

It's a picture perfect moment captured
Memories that we'll have after

[Chorus]

Spend the holidays...

It's the greatest time

It's the greatest time of year, and it's here
Help me celebrate it
With everybody here, friends so dear
Let me simply state it
Joy to the world
Joy to the world
Joy to the world
It's the greatest time of year
It's the greatest time

[Chorus]

The Day The Earth Stood Still

Keanu Reeves - Klaatu
Jennifer Connelly - Helen Benson
Jaden Smith - Jacob

Gort cast using SFX

A flying saucer orbits Earth, and lands in Washington, DC, on the Mall. Klaatu steps out and is shot by a jumpy soldier. Gort, an indestructible robot, steps out of the spacecraft and proceeds to melt all the weapons, including tanks. Later, the Earth comes to realize that Gort has used very little of his power to make this happen.

While lying on the ground, Klaatu orders Gort to stop and is then taken by the military to a hospital, from which he later escapes in order to learn more about this planet called Earth and its human inhabitants. He meets Helen Benson and her son Bobby; takes Klaatu on a tour of Washington, DC; and finally stops in front of the Lincoln Memorial. Klaatu reads the words uttered by Lincoln many years ago and realizes that there might be hope for Earth.

When they begin to suspect the alien man, he reveals himself, along with the news that Gort is a member of a race of super-robot enforcers invented to keep the peace of the galaxy and will destroy the Earth if provoked. Klaatu is pursued and shot and killed by the military. Before Klaatu dies, he tells Helen to go to Gort, and say the words "Klaatu barada nikto." If she does not, Klaatu tells her Gort will destroy the Earth. Helen makes her way to the ship and finds Gort. As the robot moves towards her, she repeats the phrase over and over. The robot picks her up and takes her into the ship. It then retrieves Klaatu's body and, through their alien science, resurrects Klaatu.

Quantum of Solace

What would you think of movie that starts from a few cars racing and some gun shots?
That's how the new Bond started.
Continuing from the ending of James Bond, Casino Royale, Bond was on his way to meet M, after capturing Mr. White. Quite a stunning action scene with Bond making a 360 degree turn while trying to get rid of his pursuers. And well, with extra excellent driving skill, Bond managed to kill his pursuers and meet up with M.

The whole movie was about this organization, Quantum and to make it worse, the CIA and British secret agent know nothing about it.

"The first thing you should know about us is that our people are everywhere," said Mr White. And that is when the first shocking truth hit M. Her bodyguard of 5 years and someone she trusted for 8 years was also part of this organization, trying to kill her.

The movie was excellent in a lot of ways...with some flaws though.

And the movie has left some unanswered details as well. As in where is Mr. White at the end? Well, the rather annoying part was the beginning soundtrack. Honestly, it was rather terrible.
Nevertheless, the action skills and intelligence of Craig in playing his role has make the movie worthwhile.
The villains are rather different in some ways, let's say villains are getting smarter nowadays.

Most people will probably argue that Craig has create a Bond that is different from the original but if we were to look at it from another perspective, he has create a Bond that is more human, and yes, more realistic.

British super spy, James Bond is someone with emotion, and could be moved and motivated by self emotion as well. Look at this Bond, you will find similarity with Jason Bourne from Bourne Ultimatum. A killing machine, seeking for some truth and full of vengeance.

Overall, I still think that Craig plays a better Bond than the previous others.

Now that James Bond is done, next is MADAGASCAR 2, ESCAPE TO AFRICA!!

Quantum of Solace review - Times Online

While waiting this weekend when I will go watch Quantum of Solace with my family members, I search for the review of the movies. Seems like Times Online giving it good review. I will update more reviews....while awaiting to watch and the post my own review soon. Here it goes

.....

James Bond is back, and this time it’s mighty personal. Daniel Craig’s craggy agent picks up exactly where he left off in another bruising thriller that leaves you feeling both drained and exhilarated.

There are hand-to-hand fights that make your eyes water and old-school stunts involving motorbikes, speedboats, jet fighters and expensive cars that give you whiplash just looking at them. Really, nobody does it better than the new 007.

What makes Marc Forster’s film such an intriguing watch is that this is the first of the 22 Bond movies where the plot flows organically from the last instalment, and Quantum of Solace looks a far stronger picture for this rare continuity.

Needless to say the plot is as forbidding as the title. After the death of his girlfriend, Vesper Lynd, at the end of Casino Royale, Bond mixes revenge and duty dangerously as he hunts down the shadowy group that blackmailed Lynd to betray him.

A link to a bank account in Haiti puts Bond on the scent of Mathieu Amalric’s chief creep and ruthless businessman, Dominic Greene. All great Bond adversaries are generously blessed with kinks and quirks and Greene is no different. Amalric has a wonderfully wormy arrogance.

His sidekick, Elvis (Anatole Taubman), sports a monkish fringe, and Tarantino bad looks. But it’s the manner in which Amalric manages to poison all trust in Bond, even from his nearest and dearest, that makes him one of the classic arch-adversaries.

Cold rage threatens to derail Bond’s mission to crack Greene’s dastardly organisation known as Quantum, and I doubt that there’s a better actor at bottling rage than Daniel Craig.

All muscles, he has defined himself as a darker and more bare-knuckle Bond than any of his elegant predecessors.

The deadpan humour is still there. And despite the occasional blasts of visceral and grisly violence, Craig is threatening to become the most popular 007 yet, certainly with the younger generation.

Even the famous Bond babes seem to be getting tougher. Olga Kurylenko’s stunning, hard-as-nails beauty, Camille, has her own private vendetta that she wants to bring to a bloody conclusion, with or without Bond’s help. And Gemma Arterton’s effortlessly foxy Agent Field appeals to the better side of the wounded anti-romantic.

“Do you know how angry I am at myself,” says the naked, raven-haired M16 agent as Bond kisses his way up her spine. But Bond rarely lets a life-threatening difference of opinion get in the way of a decent flirt.

The familiar faces returning from Casino Royale pose a far more subtle, acidic test for Bond who has to tread carefully around treacherous old friends: Jeffrey Wright’s lugubrious CIA agent Felix Leiter; Giancarlo Giannini’s silky string-puller, René Mathis; Jesper Christensen’s duplicitous Mr White; and Judi Dench, of course, as his witheringly unimpressed boss, M.

“When you can’t tell your friends from your enemies it’s time to go,” growls Dench.

Of course, Bond is having none of it. There are new necks to break and toys to play with as the action rips across Austria, Italy, and South America.

The global stakes are as precarious as ever. Amalric’s masterplan to destabilise a South American regime, install a dodgy dictator, General Medrano (Joaquin Cosio), and take control of the biggest source of fresh water in the world is fabulously cock-eyed. But that’s one of the main reasons why we can’t get enough of the greatest franchise of them all.

The director, Marc Forster, has absorbed the lucrative lessons discovered in Martin Campbell’s Casino Royale. He has also managed to pace his sequel much better. Royale felt slightly wheel-clamped by one too many longeurs. If anything, the crunching chase sequences in Quantum of Solace are even more magnificently dangerous. And the daredevil leaps and tumbles through glass roofs are just as sensational as the splintering high-speed pyrotechnics.

But it’s the amount of heartache and punishment that Craig’s new Bond absorbs that makes him look so right for our times.

Bond is no longer a work in progress. He is now the cruel, finished article.

HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 3

Troy (Zac Efron) leads East High School's basketball team to a championship victory, as he and his teammates sing, dance and shoot hoops.

But it's a bittersweet time.

High school days are coming to a close and college is looming. But first, of course, the kids have to put on a show! The drama teacher (Alyson Reed) has invited recruiters from Juilliard, who will attend the senior musical and award one scholarship.

The ever-scheming Sharpay (Ashley Tisdale) is hoping for the starring role, as well as a place at Juilliard. Also vying for the single spot is her more talented and likable twin brother, Ryan (Lucas Grabeel). A forced conflict is cooked up involving Troy and his brainy beloved, Gabriella (Vanessa Hudgens).

Lest it seem the franchise might come to an end, rest assured that younger students are being groomed to take over for their senior counterparts. English transfer student Tiara (Jemma McKenzie-Brown) will probably assume the attention-seeking Sharpay mantle, and a pair of goofy new basketball players will presumably try to fill the shoes of upcoming graduates Troy and Chad (Corbin Bleu).

This threequel is a major showcase for the charisma and talent of heartthrob Efron. The movie's highlight is The Boys Are Back, a rousing number that features Efron and Bleu and some great choreography in a junkyard full of inventive props.

Director Kenny Ortega (Newsies) gets props for ensuring a place for musical theater in the hearts of a new generation.

And with the latest plethora of gross-out bathroom humor in movies aimed at a young audience, High School Musical 3 really does emerge like a breath of fresh air. Even if the refreshing gust doesn't stay with you long, it's fun while it lasts.

Can I Have This Dance Lyrics

I can feel that HSM3 songs are totally different from the previous 2 parts. The song makes the shows not so kiddy as we all know HSM3 is a production from Walt Disney. So a lot of people assumed that it is kiddy stuff. Anyway, I really like this song from HSM3.

[Gabriella]
Take my hand, take a breath
Pull me close and take one step
Keep your eyes locked on mine,
And let the music be your guide.

[Troy, Gabriella]
Won't you promise me (now won't you promise me, that you'll never forget)
We'll keep dancing (to keep dancing) wherever we go next

(chorus)
It's like catching lightning the chances of finding someone like you
It's one in a million, the chances of feeling the way we do
And with every step together, we just keep on getting better
So can I have this dance (can I have this dance)
Can I have this dance

[Troy]
Take my hand, I'll take the lead
And every turn will be safe with me
Don't be afraid, afraid to fall
You know I'll catch you threw it all

[Troy, Gabriella]
And you can't keep us apart (even a thousand miles, can't keep us apart)
'Cause my heart is (cause my heart is) wherever you are

(chorus)
It's like catching lightning the chances of finding someone like you
It's one in a million, the chances of feeling the way we do
And with every step together, we just keep on getting better
So can I have this dance (can I have this dance)
Can I have this dance

[Gabriella And Troy]
Oh no mountains too high enough, oceans too wide
'Cause together or not, our dance won't stop
Let it rain, let it pour
What we have is worth fighting for
You know I believe, that we were meant to be

(chorus)
It's like catching lightning the chances of finding someone like you (like you)
It's one in a million, the chances of feeling the way we do (way we do)
And with every step together, we just keep on getting better
So can I have this dance (can I have this dance)
Can I have this dance

Can I have this dance
Can I have this dance

No Place Like London

Anyone watched Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street? The movie was actually based on the hit Broadway musical, which tells about Benjamin Barker a.k.a ST, who sets up a barber shop down in London which is the basis for a sinister partnership with his fellow tenant, Mrs. Lovett. The movie has a lot of interesting song example....No place Like London.

(Johnny Depp, Jamie Campbell Bower)

Antony:
I have sailed the world, beheld its wonders
From the Dardenells, to the mountains of Peru
But there's no place like London!

Sweeney:
No, there's no place like London.

Antony:
Mr. Todd?

Sweeney:
You are young. Life has been kind to you.
You will learn.

There's a hole in the world like a great black pit
and the vermin of the world inhabit it
and its morals aren't worth what a pig could spit
and it goes by the name of London.

At the top of the hole sit the privileged few
Making mock of the vermin in the lower zoo
turning beauty to filth and greed...

I too have sailed the world and seen its wonders,
for the cruelty of men is as wonderous as Peru
but there's no place like London!

Antony:
Is everything alright, Mr. Todd?

Sweeney:
I beg your indulgence, Anthony. My mind is far from easy. In these once-familiar streets...I feel shadows, everywhere.

There was a barber and his wife
and she was beautiful...
a foolish barber and his wife.
She was his reason and his life...
and she was beautiful, and she was virtuous
And he was naive.

There was another man who saw
that she was beautiful...
A pious vulture of the law
who, with a gesture of his claw
removed the barber from his plate!
Then there was nothing but to wait!
And she would fall!
So soft!
So young!
So lost and oh so beautiful!

Antony:
And the lady, sir? Did she succumb?

Sweeney:
Oh, that was many years ago.
I doubt if anyone would know...

I'd like to thank you Anthony. If you hadn't spotted me, I'd be lost on the ocean still.

Antony:
Will I see you again?

Sweeney:
You might find me if you like; around Fleet Street, I wouldn't wonder.

Antony:
Until then, my friend.

Sweeney:
There's a hole in the world like a great black pit
and it's filled with people who are filled with shit!
And the vermin of the world inhabit it...

Superman

I love Superman ever since I was a kid and now that I'm growing up, I realize that this superhero is even more special than the comic shown. Hehe...well, anyway...I love the song Superman by Five For Fighting...I think the song speaks of how every individual felt, as one seek to be a Hero...

I can’t stand to fly
I’m not that naive
I’m just out to find
The better part of me

I’m more than a bird...i’m more than a plane
More than some pretty face beside a train
It’s not easy to be me

Wish that I could cry
Fall upon my knees
Find a way to lie
About a home I’ll never see

It may sound absurd...but don’t be naive
Even heroes have the right to bleed
I may be disturbed...but won’t you concede
Even heroes have the right to dream
It’s not easy to be me

Up, up and away...away from me
It’s all right...you can all sleep sound tonight
I’m not crazy...or anything...

I can’t stand to fly
I’m not that naive
Men weren’t meant to ride
With clouds between their knees

I’m only a man in a silly red sheet
Digging for kryptonite on this one way street
Only a man in a funny red sheet
Looking for special things inside of me
Inside of me
Inside me
Yeah, inside me
Inside of me

I’m only a man
In a funny red sheet
I’m only a man
Looking for a dream

I’m only a man
In a funny red sheet
And it’s not easy, hmmm, hmmm, hmmm...

Its not easy to be me

WHY SO SERIOUS...about Dark Knight?

Today it was revealed by Variety that The Dark Knight will rank up $900 million over the weekend worldwide. A lot of people have really praised this movie for it's clever writing and Heath Ledger's performance.. But it seems to me it may be more than just his performance that got people into theaters. I also think that it may not have much to do with the script either.

The Dark Knights success I think was driven mostly by people who were curious to see Heath Ledgers "final performance". This was also fueled by people "in the know" who said his portrayl of Joker was Oscar worthy. Which I would say is a bit much. But is there something more to this? I mean were we already expecting Heath to give a stellar performance and whether or not he did.. Were people simply caught up in a crazy mass of agreement that no one could ever have given a better performance?

I tend to think people were. Most fans who have seen this movie have seen it multiple times and for some reason believe they should make it the number one movie of all time... But why? Will they benefit from it? No. Does Heath Ledger benefit from it? Certainly not. So while rabid fans are out buying tickets like mad to help it surpass Titanic they are really just putting more money in Warner Bros. pockets.

That is probably the heart of this little editorial. It happens all the time when an artist passes away that out of blind love for them we buy up everything they did. But they will no longer benefit from it. All the money goes directly to the pockets of the big studios or record labels in most cases. I think Tropic Thunder hit on this point a little when Tom Cruises character wouldn't pay the ransom for the lead actor. Of course this was all done very comedically but in the long run it doesn't seem so far from the truth.

So with The Dark Knight still raking in the cash Warner Bros. is laughing all the way to the bank. But the ultimate question is whether or not they would be if Heath Ledger had not died.. Would the early reports of Heaths performance had been so glowing? We will never know. But I will end this by saying before you pull out your wallet to support The Dark Knight again.. Think twice.

Guang Liang lyrics

I started loving Chinese songs thanks to Malaysian singer, Guang Liang (Michael Wong).

Here is the Pin Yin of Tong Hua, my favourite as it was the first song that attracted me to look at Chinese songs.

TONG HUA
wang le you duo jiu
zai mei ting dao ni
dui wo shuo ni zui ai de gu shi
wo xiang le hen jiu
wo kai shi huang le
shi bu shi wo you zuo cuo le shen me

And here is the translation into English for those who do not know what the song is all about...

I've forgotten how long it has been
since I've never again...
listened to you telling your beloved fairytale
I've thought for a long time
I start to panic
have I done something wrong?

You said to me full of tears
Inside the fairytale are all lies
I can't possibly be your prince
Maybe you can ever understand
You said I love you ever after
The stars in my sky has lightened up

I'm willing to be
that angel you love inside the fairytale
Spread up my hands
become the wings to protect you
You must believe
believe that we can be like that in the fairytale
prosperity and happiness is the ending

You said to me full of tears
Inside the fairytale are all lies
I can't possibly be your prince
Maybe you can ever understand
You said I love you ever after
The stars in my sky has lightened up

I'm willing to be
that angel you love inside the fairytale
Spread up my hands
become the wings to protect you
You must believe
believe that we can be like that in the fairytale
prosperity and happiness is the ending

I want to be
that angel you love inside the fairytale
Spread up my hands
become the wings to protect you
You must believe
believe that we can be like that in the fairytale
prosperity and happiness is the ending

I will be
that angel you love inside the fairytale
Spread up my hands
become the wings to protect you
You must believe
believe that we can be like that in the fairytale
prosperity and happiness is the ending

Let's write our ending together

Doing justice to the Dark Knight

I decided to update a bit on my brother's blog on the latest movie, Dark Knight. Although I must said that the review is simple and interesting, I felt there is more than the simple illustration from the previous posting. But before we could first talk about Dark Knight, we must look at Batman Begin. The emergence of a vigilante, superhero character in the form of Batman due to the failure of the legal system, or a legal system that seen to be adequate, in upholding the established moral order of the day. The Batman's law breaking stunts could only be justified so long as they did not contradict the very moral rules which underlie his utilitarian goals.
The idea that the ethical is not always correlated with the legal is projected onto the character of Batman and his circle of trust. It was this conflict between law and morality which gave birth to Batman and all that he endeavoured to inspire.
One person embodying the conflict between the ethical and the legal – what could this inspire? Batman Begins ended by giving us a glimpse to the question while its sequel, The Dark Knight, started with an elaboration on the answer – more vigilantes, pseudo-Batman who wore hockey pants, who wanted to take matters into their own hands only to complicate things further for the real Batman. What was meant to inspire goodness backfired and began to spin out-of-control. The new layer thus introduced into The Dark Knight is that the concept of Batman with his rule-utilitarian approach must ultimately be something of a temporary measure. At the end of the day, the rule-of-law must be upheld as the only legitimate means to maintain and restore social order – it was Gotham City Police Department’s official policy, and also Rachel Dawes hope of seeing the day when Batman no longer need to exist (which Bruce Wayne conceded at one point). All these led to the creation of Harvey Dent as a symbol of this hope – the conflict embodied by Batman would be dissolved by the congruence which converged in Harvey Dent.
Now, all these merely set the stage for what is really the essence of The Dark Knight – the Joker. Most people would concur that this is a Heath Ledger movie more than anyone else. He so brilliantly slipped into the psychopathic character of the Joker and brought out the very gist of what his character stood for. If the existence of Batman was due to the inadequacy of the present legal system, the existence of the Joker would be caused by the inadequacy of the present ethical system. While Batman flouted law to restore the moral order in the name of rule-utilitarianism, the Joker defied all morality to threaten the very existence of this established moral order. When it was said that the Joker has no rules, it was meant in the most extensive sense to include both moral and legal rules. If Batman embodied the conflict between law and morality, the Joker embodied the very conflict of morality itself.

The many layers of on-going battles – material, power, strength – only camouflaged the real war beneath them all; the war against the established moral order of the day. The most formidable challenge posed by the Joker to Batman was to threaten him at the very core of his rules which underlie his utilitarianism. Christopher Nolan thoughtfully reconstructed so many real life situations to amplify the fact that our present moral order is inadequate to deal with the complexities of society and human life. Perhaps the most interesting of them all is the classical prisoner’s dilemma reconstructed in the situation of the 2-ships in The Dark Knight. In economics, the prisoner’s dilemma sliced the two concepts of ‘rationality’ and ‘optimality’ apart to arrive at the Nash Equilibrium. In The Dark Knight, the 2-ships-dilemma pushed to the edges our understanding of ‘rationality’ and ‘optimality’ to arrive at a Moral Disequilibrium (see Alasdair MacIntyre’s Whose Justice? Which Rationality?). The social experiment conducted by the Joker even defied his own expectations of human rationality and behaviour whereas the Batman could only resigned himself to a pathetic dualistic analysis of such a complex situation.

Who emerged victorious in this war? The answer needs no rocket science. Harvey Dent became Two Face in his descent to evil; Batman had to break some of his rules i.e. garnering too much power by the use and abuse of technology in order to capture the Joker. The hope of Gotham for congruence and convergence between law and morality could only be artificially upheld by a lie. The Dark Knight has traces of many contemporary issues, from the war on terror to the dangers of technology but the most relevant contemporary question which confronts us all is perhaps this – If you break the law, you are an outlaw but if you break the moral code, you are a freak – but really, are all the freaks out there immoral? If the solution to an inadequate legal system is a vigilante Batman, what is the solution to an inadequate ethical system?

The Dark Knight

Watched The Dark Knight 2 weeks ago. I would say I'd give it 5-star rating. In fact, the movie is the best I watched so far this year. The movie was very long though, about 2 hour and 30 minutes, but I was able to stay awake throughout the movie though I was a bit tired. The soundtrack was amazing and give me the feeling of this is the sequel to Batman Begins. Christian Bale really did a good job reprising his role as Batman, and the late Heath Ledger got it right as Joker. The movie focuses more on Joker trying to turn good guys to bad and finally bringing down Harvey Dent - the DA, who has the mission for justice. If you notice the DA's name, you would know that Harvey Dent is the Two-Face and now I know why the Two-Face has the tendency to flip his coin - fair and because the coin was the coin that he gave to Rachel. The Joker, was terrifying and share his characteristic with classic villains such as Hannibal Lechter. Famous quote from the Joker - "Why so serious?" was in fact on of the song's title. Well, that's all for now. Waiting for the next Batman project from Nolan again.

Bye Bye lyrics

It's been a while since I update this blog. Well, been listening to the radio and this Bye Bye song by Mariah Carey really caught my attention. The lyrics is as below:-

This is for my peoples who just lost somebody
Your best friend, your baby, your man, or your lady
Put your hand way up high
We will never say bye (no, no, no)
Mamas, daddies, sisters, brothers, friends and cousins
This is for my peoples who lost their grandmothers
Lift your head to the sky 'cause we will never say bye

As a child there were them times
I didn't get it but you kept me in line
I didn't know why you didn't show up sometimes
It's something more than saying "I miss you"
But when we talked too
All them grown folk things
Separation brings
You never let me know it
You never let it show because
You loved me and obviously
There's so much more left to say
If you were with me today face to face

[Chorus:]
I never knew I could hurt like this
And everyday life goes on like
"I wish I could talk to you for awhile"
Miss you but i try not cry
As time goes by and it's true that you've reached a better place
Still I'll give the world to see your face
And I'm right here next to you
But It's like you gone too soon
No the hardest thing to do is say bye bye

(Bye Bye bye bye bye [3x])
Bye bye

And you never got the chance to see how good I've done
And you never got to see me back at number one
I wish that you were here to celebrate together
I wish that we could spend the holidays together

I remember when you used to tuck me in at night
With the Teddy Bear you gave to me that I held so tight
I thought you were so strong
That you can make it through whatever
It's so hard to accept the fact you're gone forever

[Chorus]

(bye bye bye bye bye bye [3x])
Bye bye

This is for my peoples who just lost somebody
Your best friend, your baby, your man, or your lady
Put your hand way up high
We will never say bye (no, no, no)
Mamas, daddies, sisters, brothers, friends and cousins
This is for my peoples who lost their grandfather
Lift your head to the sky 'cause we will never say bye

[Chorus]

Jessica Simpson's sister, Ashley releases her third album, produced by Timberland, The Neptunes' Chad Hugo, Kenna and Jack Joseph Puig.
Release date: 22 April 2008
Genre: Rock, Pop

This new album, out today is just all about the jammin tracks. The way she did the Beyonce thing in her last album, it is something like that but much better. Of the Timbaland songs, though, there's club jams and even a couple of sort-of-rock ones, and a jazzy thing like Christina, and she just seems so, I don't know, it's like she's totally turned into Gwen. All that attitude. When she goes "Get outta my head" with that goofy voice, it's so cute.

Madonna is back...

Release date: 29 April 2008
Genre: Rock, Dance, Pop

Pretty major, probably, but she makes it work with this surprisingly rejuvenated set. Now 49, Madonna has spent the past decade unevenly exploring moody trip-hop, chilly Eurodisco, and ethereal electronica — all of which are absent here.

If you're looking for softness then this album is definitely not for you.
Candy finds her dropping her Kabbalah string on the dance floor and readopting an American accent to offer up an unpretentious, nonstop dance party. In tunes like ''Give It 2 Me,'' she's unabashedly reviving the celebrative spirit of early singles like ''Lucky Star'' and ''Holiday,'' filtering it through hip-hop's sonic boom.
''Catch me on the floor/Working up a sweat/That's what the music's for,'' she asserts in ''Heartbeat,'' coming soon to a Pilates class near you. In the most exciting club banger, the aforementioned ''Give It 2 Me,'' she threatens, ''When the lights go down and there's no one left, I can go on and on and on.''
Often willfully vapid, the lyrics offer candy as a metaphor for sex, sex as metaphor for dancing, and dancing as metaphor for world domination. In fact, there's so much perspiration-soaked determination that you may detect a slightly scary C+C Music Factory-meets-Ayn Rand vibe.

Anyway all in all, the whole album was never the best that Madonna could offer but then again, she is probably still sending the same message to her fans. My Rate for her: B-

Forbidden Kingdom

While hunting down bootleg kung fu DVDs in a Chinatown pawnshop, Jason Tripitikas makes an extraordinary discovery that sends him hurtling back in time to ancient China. There, Jason is charged with a monumental task: He must free the fabled warrior the Monkey King, who has been imprisoned by the powerful Jade Warlord. Jason is joined in his quest by wise kung fu master Lu and a band of misfit warriors including Silent Monk. But only by learning the true precepts of kung fu can Jason hope to succeed--and find a way to get back home. (Lionsgate)
This is the short synopsis for this action movie pack.
I think the film has been a great fun, with a good balance between computer effects and athleticism.
All the more to see both Jet Li and Jackie Chan on the Big Screen together is definitely a delight even though both of them have past their prime years. But then again, the movie is more like a 6hour long movie being crammed into 113 minutes plus. That's the negative part of the movie but still despite of the flaws in it, the movie turn out to be quite good.

Mariah Carey....E=MC2

The latest album of Mariah Carey....with the title E=MC2, a bold title and she's out to prove her comeback is not another fluke. Of course, no one will believe that Mariah Carey is an avid fan of Einstein's famous theory of relativity but the golden-throated diva might just have discovered a winning formula. Not unlike Emancipation, (her previous album) E=MC2 finds Carey stacking the deck with the hottest producers and guest artists in urban music (Jermaine Dupri, StarGate, T-Pain, Damian Marley, Young Jeezy).
The result is a largely enjoyable mix of flirtatious club jams, midtempo love songs, and emotional ballads anchored by hip-hop beats that handsomely showcase the singer's powerful vocal chops.

Ever the party girl, Carey opens the album with the sleek and seductive ''Migrate,'' where she imagines getting buzzed on pinot grigio during a night out with the ladies. Other dance-floor anthems include ''I'll Be Lovin' U Long Time'' and ''O.O.C.,'' which, for all of their pop polish, never lose their soulful spirit. But it's not all about velvet ropes and playful come-ons; notably, Carey suffers from a major love hangover on ''Side Effects,'' a synthy cautionary tale about an abusive relationship. ''Wakin' up scared some nights still dreaming 'bout the violent times,'' she sings with outspoken intensity.

And yet Carey remains a romantic at heart. With the ballads ''Love Story'' and ''Last Kiss,'' she reunites with Dupri to recapture the passionate splendor of 2005's ''We Belong Together.'' It's unfortunate, then, that E=MC2 closes with its only missteps, the somber elegy ''Bye Bye'' — an odd choice for the follow-up single to the cheeky hit ''Touch My Body'' — and the preachy gospel hymn ''I Wish You Well'' (this CD's version of Emancipation's ''Fly Like a Bird''). Still, for an artist whose career was all but dead four years ago, Carey is wise to play it safe by building on the finest elements of her last CD. Were it not for the final two tracks, she could've gotten away with one of the best album for the year.

Water Horse and Ah Long

Honestly I am really disappointed watching the two movies.
Water Horse seem so interesting in the trailer but the whole movie is really not captivating enough for the audience. It started with the old man telling the story of his younger days and it seems that there wasn't really a clear direction of what the movie is really trying to say besides a legendary sea monster.
It is rather touching at the end of the movie though but for me to wait until the end, it's really a waste of time.
The Ah Long movie is another let down. Although it started off quite well, as the movie proceed, the jokes become lame and at times rather irritating. Probably the director made it a bit too long for the movie.
The football part in the movie is obviously an imitation of Stephen Chow's Shaolin Soccer.
Anyway I like the way the villain of the movie acted...full of hypocrisy and it just reflect the reality in today's society. However overall the movie is not good enough....it is too long and sitting for two hours inside the cinema is making it worse for you.
The ending is the worst part of all. It is as if the director ran out of ideas and decided to just end it that way. But the musics are funny...thank God!
Well, overall it is not the movies that I would recommend to anyone.

BACKSTREET BOYS UNBREAKABLE

It is really tough to be cynical about the new album of the hottest boyband ever, the BACKSTREET BOYS. It courts just about every popular music style and after the last four albums, they definitely are back with a HIT. In UNBREAKABLE, they have made a full-length album, a collection of strong singles in almost all the 14 songs (quite different and quite strong as well).
It is indeed an album that is with an actual reason to be bought.
Their numbers are left with four with Kevin Richardson departure from the group. Their gospel-tinge intro is fantastic. As this album is more or less the remake or do-over of the earlier album, Never Gone, they aim for a range of different styles and employ a similar range of songwriters for the purpose.
The best song though is written without the Boys' involvement. The track opening is great with "everything but mine", offering a lot of thrills with the confines of the radio singles. "Inconsolable" is more indicative of the group's recent material...a piano-led number with an obvious debt to Hanson.
Although "Something I already know" is a better choice for release in my point of view. The chorus is powerful and lyrics actually make sense and are pretty good.
The arrangements for the album is predictable, a BSB sort of music, but it is not really a problem. The best songs are loaded up front but it remains strong throughout the whole album.
Only a few are really disappointing such as "You can let go" and "Love will keep you up all night" as it is quite obvious that they are trying too hard to fit it in the boyband album. Definitely a nightmare to the listeners...."UNMISTAKABLE" is quite good to be heard but the over doing it electronics and vocal effects sort of distort it.
Minor complaints aside, this album could just be what it takes to lift the boyband back into the fray. Best pop album of the year so far? Kinda actually.

THE THREE KINGDOMS

It is indeed an exciting time for me....can't wait for the THREE KINGDOMS to be on the big screen....the legendary heroes of the Chinese...Liu Pei, Kuan Kung and Zhang Fei.
Hopefully the BIG SCREEN will not disappoint me again this time around.
Well, to all cinema goers, this one is one that you must not miss.
Haha! not to forget about DEATH NOTE also....a much anticipated anime....can't wait to see how the story differ from the ANIME story.

Sweeny Todd

The Demon Barber....sounds scary and the songs fit in nicely for this musical. I like the voice of Johnny Depp also...it bring out that evil and vengeance in the man that has to go through so much pain....so much so that he become a Demon himself.
The introduction of the MUSICAL was very much like THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA. Basically if you like Phantom of the Opera, this musical songs should suit you well as well. Although the vocal of the singers are definitely much more different but it is lively at times and evil when it is needed to be. The vocal of the ladies are not that exciting compare to the guys....PRETTY WOMAN is a nice one....a good mixture between the Judge and Sweeny Todd.
Well, if you like something that is different, this MUSICAL songs must be one of those in the list.

CONFESSION OF PAIN

Just rewatching the chinese movie, CONFESSION OF PAIN and I really fall in love with the way Tony Leong potrayed his character in the movie. No wonder he was the award winning actor in Hong Kong. Well, credit must be given to Takeshi Kaneshiro for his protagonist role in the movie.
It really amazed me how Hong Kong movies can be so complex and meaningful but not those from Malaysia. The idea of the movie was simple...revenge, anger and all. But I like it the way the movie make us think that sometimes evil might not be fully evil and goodness could be out of evil at times. It was necessary for me to watch it a few times cause I think it really shown how much pain could stir someone to act against RIGHTEOUSNESS.
It really made me wonder how and what it really means to be a Hero...not just to the world, or to the people who are lost but also to the people closest to us. So many times we ignore those who are closest to us and I think that the movie brought that up nicely.
A very wonderful movie indeed.
Thumbs up!!

SPIDERWICK

Their world is closer than you think.
It seems that now every movies love to be about ogres, goblins and other creatures that attract youths. Probably they all get the same idea from warcraft. Haha!
Well, SPIDERWICK is a movie not to be missed if you love fantasy but do not expect any rough battles like those in 10000 BC because this movie is not about violence. The creatures are cute and the way the director make for the movie to flow is excellent although I might said it's rather predicatable. I do not wish to tell the audience anything more bout this movie cause it will definitely spoil your mood for a movie with great expectations.
Well, do enjoy!

MUSIC heal the soul...I'm experiencing it...

I was driving back after the tuition class I gave today. It was very hot and all the discomfort after a day's work seem to make this trip back home even more difficult to continue. I looked through the discs inside my car to listen to some music that would help me loosen up and I found a disc that my friend borrowed to me.
It is the 1995 GRAMMY NOMINATED AWARD SONGS. I listened to some of the songs and thank God for the song "Hero" by Mariah Carey. It was really very motivating and of course, a good time to listen to as it helps me to relax.
For the first time in my life, I find myself agreeing that Mariah Carey is a good singer.
Well, not only is Hero a nice song to listen to, the beat is cool....and all the more, the lyrics are inspiring. Besides Hero, I also listened to another song: FRIENDS. Probably I was at the point of leaving for further studies and it is about time to say goodbye to all my friends that have been with me all these years.
Kinda emotional during the trip back, and really music helps to heal one's soul. I must admit that it is a great feeling and probably the air-condition start taking effect as well....so it really make a difference for my ride home. By the time I reached home, I felt very much energized to do more things....guess music definitely is capable of healing one's soul and emotion.
I am thinking of learning MUSIC as well...probably guitar will be the first musical instrument for me to get back into. Been a while since the last time I played my guitar....guess I forgot how beautiful it is to listen to music....listen to the BEAT!!!

Was just watching the Rambo movies once again. And really there is such a big difference with the Stallone back then and now. Those were the days when that image automatically represent a figure of a soldier, not just any soldier but one who is sharp, fast, strong and also intelligent.
In Rambo 4 however, Stallone was a shadow of himself in other Rambos and it seems more like a retired soldier. And though probably that is what it is even in the movie, it is disappointing for the fans to watch their heros grow old. A bit over exaggerated in the movie for an old man to be so active and fast.
The movies are cruel...their killings are scary and it definitely is successful in producing the image of murderous soldier.
But anyway the movie in overall is not really that good. I will said it is better for Stallone to make another movie with another title than to link it with Rambo. Well, probably it would be the last project for him...so I will said let's give him some credit for the hardwork to revive Rambo and as much as I felt it is unsuccessful I think the effort put in is good enough to keep the fans watching.
RAMBO 4....live for nothing or die for something....that is the words spoken by Rambo....don't you feel something is very wrong there?? hahaha! sorry for the sarcasm....

Was just driving today and listen to "HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL" once again.
It prompted me to write it here...the music in this movie has a good arrangement and also the beats are nice to listen to. I love the song in HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 2 better though as it has more variety in the type of music. The song has beautiful meaning in it as well and inspirational in lifting up the spirit when one is down. I think the vocal is goodwhole songs are fantastic also....overall the but I love "Everyday" the best...."all for one" also is nice and really, while I was driving just now, I felt really sleepy but the song put me back on fire. So good job for those new artists....awesome music....

backSTREET BOYS are back, and though this time just with 4 members, the songs are going to be exciting and sweet to the ears.

the new BSB....UNBREAKABLE... source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Backstreet_Boys

Original member of the group, Kevin Richardson left the group and with Nick, Howie, Brian and A.J, the BSB are back with a BANG....UNBREAKABLE.
It is the group .follow up from their previous album, NEVER GONE
I have yet to listen to UNBREAKABLE but NEVER GONE has proven to be a strong album with variety of musics in it which keeps you wanting to listen for more.
And let us not forget about Brian individual effort on his first solo album....WELCOME HOME. It is more of a Christian songs and yes, it has been to the top 3 of the Billboard Christian Charts.

Brian Littrell...a very inspiring songs in his solo album
source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/backstreet_Boys

This boyband has matured from where their beginnings are and while there are lots of more interesting music to listen to from other bands, Backstreet BOYS are for sure to make it big again once more with their return, though this time around with only 4 members.

CHRONICLES OF NARNIA....coming out on MAY 16

Was just looking through the internet looking for new movies....and I come across this, it is the upcoming movie....THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA....PRINCE CASPIAN.
I have already read the book by C.S Lewis and it was cool but let's hope that the movie is even better. Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, and some other movies directed out of books have been gaining popularity among the public today. so I really am looking for this one and have high expectation for it.

Welcome to the World of Narnia....

JUMPER

Just finish watching JUMPER today with my family.
It was awesome as it is a movie beyond our ordinary perception "JUMP". It is what I would call it as "a giant leap of IMAGINATION". The movie is about a young man named David Ricebowl, who has the ability to teleport himself to anywhere in the world that he imagines of.
Throughout the movie, JUMPER seems to be threatening to be more interesting and at times, it makes you wonder what is next.
The beginning of the movie show a great introduction to the main man of the movie. Raised by a single father after his mother, Mary Ricebowl who left the family when David was only 5 years old. During the high school days of David, he discovered of his ability and soon enough he was out on his own....(the first time he robbed a bank was awesome, especially for a 15 year old.)
But not all is well with JUMPING around, as a group of "PALADINS" were hunting down this rare breed....known as JUMPER and the only reason is to kill them all.
Their power is seen as an abomination to GOD....
I like the quotation..."only God should have the power to be around in one place at all times."

Well, this movie has almost in every part been telling us that there will be a sequel to it.
I believe it is a matter of time a second movie will be out.
I would rate it: B+
