The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader

On the same day that I watched Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows: Part 1, I also watched The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader in 3D version with my both my sisters. Overall, I find the movie is nice, and I easily rate it four out of five. There are several scenes that are really suitable to watch in 3D, so I wouldn't say it is a waste to spend the extra few bucks for the 3D version instead of the normal one. Those who are used to read subtitles to understand the conversation will badly missed the subtitles as there is no subtitles for the 3D version, like most 3D movies.

It started with Edmund trying to get into the British force by faking his id, and Lucy is there to blow his cover. Then Lucy and Edmund go back to their cousin Eustace Clarence Scrubb's place, where they are staying while both Peter and Susan are away. Eustace Clarence Scrubb is a rather dour and mean spirited little boy and does not like both Edmund and Lucy, so while they are arguing in Lucy's room, the painting of a ship on the wall comes to life, and the three children fall into the ocean to be rescued by the Dawn Treader - the ship and crew of Prince Caspian, who obviously is now King Caspian.

While Lucy and Edmund are delighted to be back in Narnia, Eustace is less than enthusiastic, and complain like most of the time. Caspian, has undertaken a quest to find the seven lost Lords of Narnia, as he had previously promised to Aslan.

They first make landfall at the Lone Islands, which is nominally Narnian territory, but has fallen into degeneracy--among other things, they participate in in the slave trade. While exploring the Island, Caspian, Lucy, Edmund and Eustace are kidnapped by a group of slave traders to be sold. Caspian and Edmund are brought to the dungeon while Lucy and Eustace are brought to the auction. While inside the dungeon, Caspian and Edmund met with one of the seven Lords, Lord Bern. He told them on what is happening on the island over the years - the sacrifice to the Green Fog (not sure what they name it already). After that, Edmund and Caspian are brought outside for auction, but since they never made it back to the ship, the crew members come looking for them. A fierce fight turn out between the crew members of the Dawn Treader and the slave traders and obviously the Dawn Treader wins the fight. Lord Bern acknowledge Caspian and gave him one of the Seven Swords...stating that Caspian's father would love him to have the sword.

Next, they stop by another island to pursuit the Green Fog and this is where Lucy was kidnapped by a group of creatures that have one leg (what is that call?) to cast a spell so that the unseen will be seen. This is where Caspian, Edmund and Lucy learn about the Seven Swords and what is the Green Fog. Also here they learn that they will be tempted in the pursuit of the Swords - Lucy who desire to be prettier until she wishes she does not exists, Edmund who desire for more power and Eustace who were tempted by the dragon's treasure and later become a dragon...all these which will be happening later in the movie.

Fast forward, they manage to get another 2 of the Seven Swords and continue their journey to the Island of the Star. By now, Eustace has become a dragon and ware of how bad his previous behaviour was, and uses his strength to help make amends by helping the Dawn Treader crew. Soon they reach the Island of the Star where they find another 3 Lords and Swords and gather the swords at the Aslan's table.

At the last island where nightmares become real, is never seen, but this is where they find the last lord, Lord Rhoop and Caspian brings him on board. Suddenly, horrible water monster appear (apparently is Edmund's nightmare) and the crew of the Dawn Treader battle hard against the monster. Eustace as the dragon form also help but then suddenly Lord Rhoop went berserk and throw the Sword at Eustace and Eustace flies back to the Island of the Star where Aslan transform him back to his human form and he gather the last sword with the other 6. Meanwhile the Dawn Treader crew successfully defeat the water monster and the evil is defeated.

Finally the group meet up with Aslan and Aslan show them His Kingdom. Although Caspian wishes to go to Aslan's Kingdom, he knows that he got a lot of work to do in Narnia - as the King of his subjects. Reepicheep seeks the permission from Aslan to go to His Kingdom and Aslan permits him to do so, and so he venture in a small boat through an ocean of flowers until they reach a wall of water that extends into the sky. Aslan tells Lucy, Edmund and Eustace to return to the Earth and that they should learn to know him by another name in their own world. He then sends the children home.

Lindsay Lohan's younger days photos

Lately, I have been following some of the celebrity news and Lohan is one of them....given the rehab swap that is on the news.  But really, what turns an innocent young child into such a troubled life (so to say). I am not sure what happen along the way but looking back at the old photos, you just somehow have the belief and hope of her coming out strong again. We are definitely not going to have the young, innocent Lindsay Lohan again but at least we're hoping for her recovery in the rehab center.

[Review] Taken 3

Ex-government operative Bryan Mills starting to show his age in this third installment of the Taken series - I can swear that I heard his panting almost every breath taking scene, which makes the acting by Liam Neeson real. In this series, Bryan Mills is hoping to reconcile with his ex-wife, Lenore St. John who is said to be not happy with her current husband. The reconciliation however cut short when she was brutally murdered. Bryan Mills was frame for the murder of Lenore and consumed with rage, he go on hiding to evade the CIA, FBI and the police and he intended to track down the murderer on his own with his skills. It doesn't take long before he realized that the murderer is from the group of Russians, which then leads him to his ex-wife husband - and he interrogates him until he told how he was forced to cooperate with the Russians which might target Bryan's daughter, Kim. So, in order to protect his daughter while he revenge, he gets help from his friends to bri...

Superman’ Review: A Charming but Chaotic Attempt to Restart the DCU with Heart — and a Lot of Noise

James Gunn’s   Superman   had one job — to kickstart a brand-new DC Universe with clarity, confidence, and purpose. What we got instead is a quirky, overstuffed spectacle that bounces between heartfelt sincerity and Saturday morning cartoon mayhem, never quite settling into a rhythm strong enough to lift this hero off the ground. On paper, it all sounds promising:   Superman   skips the tired origin story and dives straight into Clark Kent’s third year as Earth’s protector. David Corenswet brings a sincere, wide-eyed charm to the role — equal parts Boy Scout and alien outcast — while Rachel Brosnahan’s Lois Lane is, without a doubt, the best we’ve ever seen on screen. Their chemistry crackles, especially in the film’s most grounded scene: a sharp interview that pits Lois’ hard-nosed journalism against Superman’s unwavering optimism. In that moment, you can almost feel the movie it   could   have been — thoughtful, conflicted, real. Unfortunately, tho...
